Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered here, the best next step is a free 15-minute discovery call. I'm happy to talk things through.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. This means that payment is made at the time of service.

Staying out-of-network allows for a different kind of flexibility and privacy in care, including the ability to focus on the work itself rather than insurance requirements, diagnoses, or session limits.

If you prefer, many plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services, and I can provide superbills for you to submit. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your specific benefits.

How does out-of-network reimbursement work?

If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance may reimburse a portion of the session fee.

You can ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?

  • What percentage is reimbursed?

  • Is there a deductible I need to meet?

  • How do I submit claims?

Reimbursement varies by plan.

What are your fees?

Psychotherapy and program fees can be discussed in your discovery call, but generally, my fees are based on the usual and customary rate charged by clinicians with a similar level of training and experience in California.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. I offer a no-cost discovery call (15 minutes) to help determine whether this work feels like a good fit.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

All sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth. This allows for flexibility in scheduling and continuity of care, regardless of location within California.

What is your cancellation policy?

I am understanding and flexible when it comes to cancellations and reschedules. I do ask for 24 hours' notice if this is at all possible, but I do not bill for missed sessions.

How long do people typically work with you?

Many patients work with me in a focused, time-limited way, often around 8–12 sessions, depending on their goals and needs. Some people choose to continue longer-term work as well.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required. You can reach out directly to get started. Some patients are referred by physicians or other providers, but self-referral is always welcome.

Will you coordinate with my doctor or other providers?

Yes — when helpful and with your written consent, I can coordinate care with your physician or other providers.

Is this right for me?

This work may be a good fit if:

  • you're dealing with ongoing symptoms or stress that feel hard to shift

  • you feel stuck in patterns of worry, monitoring, or reactivity

  • you're frustrated with difficult, persistent interactions in your couple relationship
